Acid meets Motown

My first blog post! Woot Woot! So without further ado, let’s get down to business…
Sun Ra+Sam Cooke+Squarepusher+scruffy, scrawny Brit= JAMIE LIDELL!!!
Never judge a book by it’s cover, rite? Jamie Lidell might look like a Central Park hobo, but this white boy’s got more soul than a sock with a hole. Expecting another weird Aphex Twin knockoff, I watched Lidell’s 2005 Dance Village performance in amazement, as he ushered me into a world of sampled souful vocals and funky beatboxing. With seemingly boundless creativity, he pulls off falsetto licks and crazy beats that’ll have TImberlake saying “how’d he do that?”. Complementing his intense live performance, Lidell’s works Muddlin Gear (2005) and Multply (2005) are musical gems. I eagerly await his fourth studio album Jim, which should be released in less than three days! The album’s first single, “Little Bit of Feel Good”, is a sign of great things to come, as Lidell goes for a more stripped down, raw R&B sound. This new album should repair the damage done by JT, and put funky white boys BACK on the map!
